Released theatrically in 1988, the animated feature film ''Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack''. In 2014, Sony reissued the complete original soundtrack as a deluxe three-CD set. This edition expanded upon the original soundtrack released by EPIC/SONY in 1988, adding 10 previously unreleased tracks on Disc 2, 11 alternate takes, and a film-synced EDIT version on Disc 3. With upgraded jacket artwork and booklet, the release was met with strong acclaim from fans. (Currently, the standard edition MHCL30236, which adds only the 10 previously unreleased tracks, remains in print.) This release presents an expanded two-CD edition compiling the Disc 2 and Disc 3 material from the now out-of-print complete edition. It delivers the definitive audio content both for listeners who already own the standard edition and for those newly discovering the music of ''Gyaku Shaa''.
